All excursions depart from and return to Avenue Diagonal of Barcelona, just in front of Palau de Congressos de Catalunya. The nearest subway station is 'Zona Universitària' on Line 3. All excursions are in English. All full day excursions include lunches. Please note all rates are quoted with reference to the prevailing 2006 VAT. Reservations are accepted on a 'first-come, first-served' basis. Excursions may be cancelled or subject to modification without previous notification, if the minimum number of participants is not met. Any cancellation must be notified in writing to AOPC only. Tour refunds in case of cancellation will be as follows: Until 31 May 2007, 50% refund, and no refund from this date.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
This excursion will give you a general impression of the city in which you are staying during the congress and will also interest those who have visited Barcelona before. It will include the Ramblas (picturesque avenue), the Gothic Quarter with its Roman and mediaeval remains (oldest part of the city); a guided visit of the Cathedral and its Gothic cloister (except on Sunday), the Town Hall and Generalitat Palace; Catalunya Square and Passeig de Gràcia (one of the main avenues in the city) with Gaudi´s houses (Casa Milà, Casa Batlló, etc.), a visit to the Sagrada Familia (church of the Holy Family), one of the most famous constructions of Catalan Modernism, started in 1882 by Gaudi and still unfinished; a drive to Montjuïc Hill for a splendid view of the harbour and the city, and a panoramic tour of the Olympic Stadium.
Price per person: 50 Euros (this price includes the visit of the Sagrada Familia).

The astonishing architecture by Antoni Gaudí (Catalan Modernism), deserves at least a half-day tour in Barcelona, his masterpieces are a must. Do not miss the chance to admire and get to know his main works: La Pedrera, Güell Park and the Sagrada Família that is still being built.

One hour's motorway drive from Barcelona to the wine region of Penedés, where Spain's largest producers of sparkling champagne-style wine are located. Visit to a famous wine cellar. Wine-tasting and departure to Montserrat. Drive through picturesque countryside to reach Mountain Montserrat (4.050 feet-1.235 meters) with its impressive rock formations. Visit to the monastery and basilica ( to see the 12th century Romanesque sculpture of the Black Virgin and attendance of a recital by the Escolania (one of oldest boys choirs in Europe). After the choir recital, lunch at typical Catalan restaurant.

Departure to visit the Dalí Museum (, 139 Km from Barcelona and located in the old municipal theatre of Figueres. It is the second most visited museum in Spain, and its collection offers a large variety of works created by different techniques and which represent the different styles of the artist. After visiting the museum, departure to Girona. This city is known as the Florence of Catalonia because of its charm and magnificent architectural and artistic heritage. Once an important Jewish centre, it definitely deserves a walking-visit of the old part of the city.
