ISOQOL's mission is to promote the rigorous investigation of health-related quality of life measurement from conceptualization to application and practice. The web site provides details on ISOQOL publications and conferences. The Society publishes a multidisciplinary journal which includes articles on HRQOL instruments and their applications in specific health conditions.

The mission of the MAPi Research Institute is to promote international use of patient-reported and clinical assessments through linguistic validation for appropriate cross-cultural use and interpretation. The Institute distributes quality of life instruments, validates the translations of instruments and publishes a free newsletter. A non-profit organization, the Medical Outcomes Trust promotes the science of health outcomes measurement and is involved in the development, evaluation and distribution of standardized outcomes measures. The web site includes information on specific instruments approved by the Medical Outcomes Trust.

The web site consists of reports and publications on condition-specific, population-based and patient-assessed outcomes measures. The Patient-assessed Health Instruments (PHI) part of the web site provides links to a patient-assessed health instruments database, selection criteria, published reports and relevant links. The patient-assessed health-instruments database consist over 7000 records relating to the development and evaluation of patient assessed health instruments.

The World Health Organization has developed two instruments to measure quality of life in collaboration with 20 centres around the world.
