Welcome to our Society, Health Technology Assessment International (HTAi), and to our website.

Health technology assessment (HTA) plays an essential role in modern health care by supporting evidence based decision making in health care policy and practice. There is a vibrant and growing community around the world of those who develop and use HTA. HTAi's mission is to support the growth of that community by providing a global forum for the exchange of information, methods, and expertise.

HTAi is unique - it is the only international professional society focusing specifically on HTA and embracing all those who do and use HTA, whether in academic institutions, health care facilities, industry, business, the voluntary sector, or government.

You can learn more about HTAi by going to the 'About HTAi' section of this website. This includes a short statement of our mission and aims, and the full text of our Constitution and current Corporate Strategy and business plan.

You can also learn about the activities of our members, read our Newsletter and Bulletins in the News section, and learn of HTA related job postings in our Employment Opportunities section.

There are other services through this site available only to our members, such as access to our journal the International Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care, published quarterly by Cambridge University Press.

If you are involved in HTA or would like to understand more about it, we hope that you will join our Society and attend our meetings, whether as an individual or as a member of an organization. We also welcome sponsors. Information on all of these topics is available through this website or by contacting our Secretariat.

We are a membership society run for and by our members. We welcome questions about our work and suggestions for how we might improve the services we provide. Please send your questions to the HTAi secretariat.

Our next Annual Meeting will be held in Dublin, Ireland from June 6th to 9th, 2010. Information on the meeting and its program are available at the meeting web site and more information will be provided by the meeting organizers in Dublin and the HTAi Secretariat as the the meeting draws closer.

Our meeting in 2010 will be an opportunity to raise the profile of HTA as a resource to support decision making in health in challenging economic times; I look forward to seeing many new and familiar faces there.

I look forward to welcoming you to membership in our Society and meeting you in Dublin.

Sincerely yours,

Laura Sampietro-Colom, President
Health Technology Assessment International
